Canada Scholarships for International Students 2022 : How to Apply
Canada scholarships are an excellent way to support further education, particularly if you’re not in the country to begin with. In fact, Canada was recently ranked as the country that offers the best living conditions for international students, with more than 40% of them returning after graduation to work in their host country.
The great news is that there are plenty of opportunities out there to fund your higher education, whether you want to study in English or French and whether you want to study at the elementary, secondary or post-secondary level! There are even opportunities available specifically for international students studying in Canada worth up to $50,000 !

Application Deadline
The application deadline is Aug 30th, 2022. Once you’ve applied, we’ll notify you whether or not you’ve been chosen to be part of our study abroad program. If you are selected, then an official acceptance letter will be sent. All students accepted into the program must pay a non-refundable deposit in order to secure their spot. Any unused deposits will be refunded at the end of the summer.
Location
There are over 150 Canada scholarship programs available from various government and non-government organizations. The majority of international student scholarships in Canada are only open to citizens of other countries.
One notable exception is University of Toronto’s Gairdner Global Healthcare Award, which annually awards five $100,000 scholarships.
To be eligible, you must be a citizen of one of the following eight countries: Bangladesh, Canada, Ghana, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria or the United States. You must also be studying at a public university in Canada and be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student majoring in health sciences (e.g., nursing, public health, medicine).
Degree Level
Your Canada scholarship will be awarded to you in one of three degree levels: Postgraduate, Master’s or PhD. You don’t need a bachelors degree from a Canadian school if you’re applying for any of these scholarships. They will assess your credentials on an individual basis and then award you a scholarship based on merit only.
Scholarship Duration
The duration of each scholarship varies from institution to institution, so it’s important that you check with your chosen provider if you need more information. The Canada-China Scholarship Program awards up to 4 years of funding for undergraduate students and 5 years of funding for master’s and doctoral students.
The minimum number of years differs depending on degree type. Undergraduate degrees range from 3 to 4 years, Master’s degrees range from 2 to 5 years, and Doctoral degrees range from 3 to 6 years. Canada scholarships are available through government sources as well as private organizations.
They’re not just limited to Canadian institutions but also international ones.
